Hi again. I just picked this lamp up at a yard sale. It looks like
a bracket or hanging lamp font but won't fit standard bracket
baskets or rings. The bottom has a ridge as for a set screw, but it
won't fit any of my four of that type of holder. It has a fancy
embossed collar {#2} and oil fill, three raised rings like oil dams
around the top, and around the sides in half inch capitol letters
is I. P. FRINK - NEW YORK - 1887. Can you tell me if this is a
maker, a business ad, or what? The burner, maybe not original, is a
#2 gallery type with twist off gallery. It is marked - THE GRAND
BURNER- M. B. CO. N. Y. on the wheel. Ive never heard of this. What
can you tell me. Thank you so much for all the information you have
given me. The guild website is a real treasure.

Nathan: Name sounds familiar, but I don't see Frink on
Leflet's Lighting Patent list. The burner is easier. M.B. Co
N.Y. is Manhattan Brass Co. (maybe best know for the Student
lamp). The "Grand" is one of those burners that has a
minor gimmick to improve performance...a 1 5/8" wick that
has to be curved to fit through the collar, but gives more light
than a normal flat wick of its size (no kidding...wider wick,
more light!) It could well have come with the lamp. :: Fil Graff
