John Scott Lamp (England) Information Wanted by Don Hastler
Posted: Feb. 28, 2000 @ 20:43.
I have two lamps like the one in the picture. The two wick risers
have the name "John Scott Made In England" on them. The
burner is a duplex with mechanism to put out the wicks after use.
They are brass and are 12 1/4" to the top of the burner. Does
anyone know anything about this company. I suspect they are fairly
contemporary but do no know for certain. Any information is
appreciated

You are right it is fairly contemporary: It is a modern Duplex
made for Scott Bros, now taken over by a firm in Cheshire whose
name escapes me. Use kerosine only, ultra pure will burn too hot
in one of these burners.

John Scott was an importer of English made lamps. All were made
in the 1970's & 80's. His business was in California USA
and had his name put on the wick knobs. He died about 10 yrs.
ago. His family still operate "Scott Lamp Supply" here
in Northern California. The burner he used were first marked
"Duplex" and were used in the lamps that were imported
by A & A Importing. John paid the price and ordered an amount
large enough to have the change made on the wick knob. John Scott
was a good business man and he is missed. I knew him as a
friend.
